Walk the Talk Reaches North Coast Aboriginal Corporation for Community Health

North Coast Aboriginal Corporation for Community Health (NCACCH) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service located at Birtinya on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland.

They provide a wide range of medical and allied health services and programs to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members residing in the Sunshine Coast and Gympie region. These include general practice, dental, physiotherapy, podiatry, counseling, dietetics, men’s and women’s health, maternal and child health, chronic disease management and smoking cessation health services. They also facilitate a number of community programs such as a pop-up vaccination clinic, hearing checks, and women’s group.

A particularly interesting member of NCACCH is their health mascot, Dr Kiah the Kangaroo. Dr Kiah is passionate about teaching kids how to be healthy so they can grow up strong in body and culture, and has an interactive website for health related content.

If your an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person living within the 7,000sq/km region NCACCH serves, look them up to find out what services they can offer to help with your health and wellbeing. You can find them at their website: https://ncacch.org.au/

Next I’m off to Cherbourg to visit a couple of great services!
