Up in Kuranda and visiting Ngoonbi Community Services Indigenous Corporation.
Ngoonbi provides a range of community services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across the Peninsula and Tablelands covering Kuranda, Mt Garnet, Ravenshoe, Atherton and Mereeba, with the aim of improving their quality of life, health and access to affordable and quality housing. Part of their services include home support for people with moderate, severe or profound disabilities and their carers, a range of youth services and activities including programs for anger management, nutrition and sexual health, and a sports and recreation program focused on social participation, health and social and emotional well-being. They also offer a number of services relating to housing, schooling, youth empowerment and Centrelink services.
If you’re an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person living within Ngoonbi’s service area, check them out to find out what services they can make available to you by visiting their website: http://ngoonbi.org.au/
I’m heading out west for one more stop before my longest walk yet!
