Walk the Talk Reaches Torres Health

Walk the Talk Reaches Torres Health

It’s been a long walk but I’ve finally made it to Thursday Island and visiting with Torres Health.

Torres Health is the first community controlled health organisation in the Torres Strait Islands. Their primary focus is to develop clinical and preventative health services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples living in remote and isolated communities, particular young people. Their health programs are primarily directed towards fitness and wellbeing, and include sports and exercise programs like basketball and boxing, and the Nor More Smoke program which helps people quit smoking.

If you’re an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person living in the Torres Strait Region, check in with Torres Health and find out what they can do for you by visiting their website: https://torreshealth.org.au/

What goes up must come down, so I’m heading back down to the mainland for another long walk during which I’ll break the million steps mark. See you in a couple of weeks!
